Climbing Ampato:
The ascent to Ampato is made from the north side of the mountain, starting from the village of Cabanaconde, near the edge of the Colca Canyon.
Day 1: AREQUIPA - CABANACONDE
We begin our journey departing from Arequipa in our vehicle towards the town of Cabanaconde. After lunch, we will have an acclimatization hike where we can appreciate the local landscape and share in the experiences of the locals. Afterwards, we will have some time to rest before dinner.

Day 2: CABANACONDE - MUCURCA LAGOON
Very early after breakfast, we begin our hike from the town of Cabanaconde towards Mucurca Lagoon. During this trek, we will have pack mules and muleteers to assist our equipment. We will camp on the shores of Mucurca Lagoon, where we can enjoy this beautiful scenery and its spectacular views.

Day 3: MUCURCA LAGOON - AMPATO BASE CAMP
After breakfast, we will begin our ascent from Mucurca Lagoon to our base camp at 5,200 meters above sea level, located on the edge of a snow-capped peak. Pack animals can be used to carry some of the luggage up to this point.

Day 4: AMPATO BASE CAMP - SUMMIT - DESCENT - CABANACONDE - AREQUIPA
Today we will depart early to summit Ampato (6,325 meters above sea level) with a hike of approximately 5 to 6 hours. Afterward, we will descend and begin our return to the town of Cabanaconde, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to the city of Arequipa.
