Huaruro Trekking. A professional guide will accompany the group from Arequipa throughout the entire tour. Our guides speak English and Spanish, and in special cases, we have guides who speak French, German, or Italian.

Itinerary

Day 1: AREQUIPA - CABANACONDE - LLAGUAR

We will begin our tour with a 3:00 a.m. pick-up from your hotel for a 3-hour drive to the town of Chivay, where we will have breakfast. Afterward, we will continue to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where we will spend approximately one hour observing the flight of the world's largest bird.

After watching the condor, we will continue to the town of Cabanaconde (3,400 meters above sea level) where we will have lunch. Following lunch, we will take a short hike to the Achachigua viewpoint, from where the descent of approximately 4 hours begins. We will reach the Colca River and cross to the other side, observing a couple of geysers. We will then hike for another hour to reach our campsite in the village of Llahuar, where we can enjoy activities such as fruit picking and trout fishing (depending on the season).

Day 2: LLAHUAR - FURE - HUARURO - FURE

After breakfast, we'll begin a two-hour hike to the village of Llatica, where we'll enjoy beautiful views of its fields and orchards. We'll then continue for another hour and a half to reach the village of Fure, where we'll have lunch while admiring the stunning scenery.

After a short break, we'll hike to Huaruro Waterfall for approximately three to four hours (round trip). This waterfall is known for its height, the veil of spray created by the water crashing against the rocks, and the rainbows visible at its base. Afterward, we'll begin our return to Fure, where we'll spend the night.

DAY 3: FURE - SANGALLE

After breakfast, we will depart from Fure towards El Oasis (Sangalle, 2,100 m.a.s.l.) for approximately 5 hours. This hike will be along a flat trail from which we can observe the walls of the Colca Canyon and the diverse hues of its vegetation. We will then descend through an ancient amphitheater of agricultural terraces to finally arrive at the Oasis, where we can enjoy its natural pools at 24°C. Enjoy the charm of the place while we wait for lunch, then have the afternoon free until dinnertime. At night, weather permitting, you can appreciate a breathtaking sky filled with stars.

Day 4: SANGALLE - CABANACONDE - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA

This day we will wake up very early, at 4:00 a.m., to begin the ascent to the town of Cabanaconde, which takes approximately 4 hours. At the beginning, we will need the light of our flashlights, but as the morning progresses, the dawn light will illuminate the path. Once in Cabanaconde, we will have breakfast and board our transport, which will take us to the town of Chivay. There, we will have the option of visiting the La Calera thermal baths (40°C) and having lunch before beginning our return to the city of Arequipa.

Meals include omelets, soups, fresh fruit, avocado, pasta, meat, and rice, all rich in carbohydrates necessary to compensate for the physical exertion of the trek. Hot drinks are also included, including coca tea, which is excellent for altitude sickness.
