Climbing Huarancante. At 5,000 m we begin the hike, which lasts approximately 3 hours until we reach Huarancante. It seems quite close to the campsite, just above 5,200 m. The next day we climb in a few hours and reach the summit.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arequipa - Huarancante Camp

Early this morning we depart for the highest point, "El Mirador de los Volcanes" (The Volcano Viewpoint). Our private transportation will take us a little over 5,020 meters (17,000 feet). After a 3-hour hike, we reach our base camp at approximately 5,200 meters (17,000 feet).

Day 2 Huarancante Camp - Huarancante Summit - Arequipa

Very early this morning we ascend to the summit of Nevado Huarancante, where we will enjoy an excellent view of the snow-capped peaks and sacred mountains (Apus) of Hualca Hualca, Sabancaya, Ampato, Coropuna, Misti, Chachani, Pichu Pichu, Ubinas, and Solimana. We descend to the camp and continue to our private transportation for the return trip to the city of Arequipa.

Meals include soups, creams, pasta, rice, fruit, and cereals, all rich in carbohydrates necessary to compensate for physical exertion. Hot drinks are also provided, including coca tea, which is excellent for altitude sickness.

Please note that you must carry your own equipment.

If you prefer not to carry your own equipment, you can hire a porter (please inquire about pricing with the agency).
