Climbing Mismi: Origin of the Amazon

Climbing Mismi: Origin of the Amazon

Climbing & Trekking Mismi: This expedition to Mismi has two main objectives: First, to reach the summit of the Mismi mountain, and second, to visit the true source of the longest and grandest river on Earth: the Amazon. Satellite maps have confirmed that the Amazon's source is in the Carhuástaca ravine on the Mismi slope.

The summit of Mismi is located on the right flank of the Colca Canyon, in the province of Caylloma, Arequipa. The tour can take between 3 and 5 days, depending on the route taken. During the trip, we will appreciate the typical Andean landscape with its classic fauna (llamas and alpacas) and flora (ichu grass and yareta moss).

The usual starting point for the tour is the Andean village of Tuti, 45 minutes from Chivay.
