The Ampato route comprises 4 days in a 4x4 Land Cruiser with a private guide. It includes visits to the Colca Canyon, the deepest in the world, and the Colca Valley with its pre-Incan and Incan ruins. Altitudes are: Arequipa 2332 meters above sea level, Huancayo 2970 meters above sea level, Cabanaconde 3252 meters above sea level, Oasis 2000 meters above sea level, Cruz del Condor, Chivay 3600 meters above sea level, and the source of the Amazon River 5232 meters above sea level. Itinerary

Day 1: Arequipa, Soccoquilla, El Lagarto Rojo (The Red Lizard), Huanca Sanctuary, and Huanca

In the morning, we depart from Arequipa in our private transport to Soccoquilla. We will make several stops to observe the changing landscape, transitioning from arid to fertile terrain. We will also appreciate rock paintings. We will have a boxed lunch at the Huanca Sanctuary. In the afternoon, we will visit the Soccoquilla archaeological complex. Afterward, we will trek to the mountain resembling a red lizard and visit the town of Huanca, where we will spend the night in basic accommodations.

 

Day 2: Huanca Lluta, Pichrigma Canyon, Huambo, Mocurca Lagoon, Cabanaconde

After breakfast, we begin our journey to Pichrigma, a canyon with an elevation gain of over 1,000 meters. Pichrigma offers spectacular and colorful views. Small Inca-provincial villages can be seen perched on the mountains. Its inaccessibility, like its terraced fields, surrounds this dizzying canyon. Visit the village of Lluta. This route is truly spectacular, offering views of the Apus (mountain gods) Coropuna, Ampato, Solimana, Chachani, etc. You can also appreciate the Pedregal and the western range of the Andes, passing through different climate zones. After a 4x4 route, you'll discover Lake Mocurca surrounded by flamingos. Finally, we continue our journey to Cabanaconde, where we'll spend the night at 3200 meters above sea level.

Day 3: Cabanaconde - Hot Springs - Tuti

In the town of Cabanaconde, we'll have breakfast and board our private transportation, which will take us to the village of Tuti, where we'll have lunch featuring organic products. After settling into the hostel, we'll go to the 38°C thermal baths. In the afternoon, we will visit an incredible ruin once inhabited by pre-Inca, Inca, and Spanish peoples.

Day 4: Tuti - Volcano Viewpoint - Aguada Blanca Reserve - Arequipa

Today, after our immersive experience, we continue to the highest point of our trip, 4900 meters above sea level. We will make many stops to appreciate the natural beauty and the views of Arequipa's three volcanoes. Arrival in Arequipa, where we will spend the night.
