Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Km 104 (Chachabamba) - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from your respective hotels at 5:50 a.m. and take you to the train station. From there, we will begin our train journey from Cusco to Km 104 (Chachabamba), where we will start our hike. At this location, we will visit the archaeological site of the same name. According to studies conducted at this site, it was a temple dedicated to the water god. Afterward, we will begin our ascent of the mountain, and after approximately three hours, we will arrive at the archaeological site of Wiñayhuayna. We will visit this complex, which was discovered in 1942 by the Peruvian archaeologist Julio C. Tello. He named it after the Wiñayhuayna orchid (Epidendrum secundus). It is a beautiful Inca construction located in the Vilcabamba mountain range. According to studies conducted by archaeologists, it's called "Little Machu Picchu" because its layout is similar to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Then, we'll continue for 10 minutes and arrive at the Wiñayhuayna campsite, where we'll have lunch. We'll continue our trek towards the Intipunku (Sun Gate) viewpoint. Along the way, we'll see the impressive diversity of flora: orchids, ferns, mosses, bamboo, begonias, and more. After an hour, we'll reach the Sun Gate, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Machu Picchu. This spot is located 1 kilometer from the archaeological site. After a short break and taking some photos, we'll descend to the Machu Picchu bus station, where we'll board the bus that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we'll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Cusco

We'll wake up at 5:00 a.m. for breakfast. Next, we'll take our bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site, where we can watch the sunrise. We'll visit the citadel of Machu Picchu with our guide for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Afterward, you'll have free time to explore the site and admire the immense stone structures built by the Inca civilization before returning to the town of Aguas Calientes to catch our train back to Cusco, arriving between 8:30 and 9:00 PM.
