Inca Trail Trekking. A visit to Machu Picchu is an essential part of any trip to Peru, and the best way to appreciate the ancient ruins is by trekking the Inca Trail. Along this trail, you'll see numerous fascinating ruins and breathtaking landscapes teeming with diverse flora and fauna. A 4-day Inca Trail trek is an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO - HUAYLLABAMBA

After breakfast, we will board our vehicle at approximately 6:30 a.m. and travel to kilometer 82, where the hike begins. This entire journey takes approximately 5 hours, until we reach the first campsite, Huayllabamba, where a delicious dinner and a suitable place to relax await us. We will camp here for the first night.

Overnight in tents.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

 

Day 2: HUAYLLABAMBA - PACAYMAYO

We will wake up around 6:00 a.m., have breakfast, and begin our hike to the highest point of the trek, 4,200 meters above sea level, a place called Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman). We will rest for a few minutes before beginning the descent. After lunch, we will have a short rest and resume the hike to the second campsite, Pacaymayo.

Day 3: PACAYMAYO - (PHUYUPATAMARCA OR WIÑAYWAYNA)

After breakfast, we will continue our trek. This day is special because we will visit the archaeological sites of Runcuracay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca. We will stop for lunch along the way. Then we will continue to our third campsite, possibly in Phuyupatamarca or Wiñaywayna, depending on the group's progress.

Day 4: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

We will wake up very early, between 3 and 4 a.m., for breakfast and begin our final leg to Intipuncu. From there, we will be able to see the magnificent Machu Picchu, arriving at approximately 7 or 8 a.m. We will have a short rest before entering the sanctuary for our approximately 2-hour guided tour. Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore the Inca citadel on your own. At the agreed-upon time, we'll begin our descent to the town of Aguas Calientes to board the train that will take us to Ollantaytambo, where we'll be met and transferred to the city of Cusco.
